How do I update my federal tax withholding in the ADP Mobile app?

- Tap Pay

- The Features section is ordered by features most used. Click Show More if Pay is not shown.

- Scroll down to the Tax Withholding tile.
- Tap the drop-down arrow next to Federal then tap Edit Withholding.
- Security Checkpoint! If prompted to verify your identity (two-factor authentication), select one of the following options to receive a security code:
- Call me
- Send me a text
- Send me an email
- Type in the code within ten (10) minutes then tap Submit Code
- Read over the general information regarding the IRS tax estimator then tap Let’s Begin.
- First, verify your personal information is accurate then tap Next to proceed.
- Answer Yes or No to the question Are you a Nonresident Alien? then tap Next.
- Select the filing status you want to use then tap Next to proceed.
- Single or Married Filing Separately
- Married Filing Jointly (or Qualifying Widow(er))
- Head of Household
- Answer Yes or No to the question Do you claim exemption from federal income tax withholding?
- Yes — type “Exempt” in the text box then tap Next. Skip to Step 12.
- No — tap Next and proceed to the next step.
- Answer Yes or No to the question Do you work more than one job? Tap Next to proceed.
- Answer Yes or No to the question Will your income be $200,000 or less?
- Yes — enter the number of Dependents under 17 (if applicable), Other Dependents (if applicable), and any other tax credits to claim (if applicable).
- No — enter any other tax credits to claim (if applicable).
- When asked to make any other adjustments, enter a dollar amount to report any additional withholdings (if applicable). Tap Next to proceed.
- Review all the information that was captured in the previous steps for accuracy. Tap Next to proceed.
- An electronic W-4 form will auto-generate and be filled in with the information provided. Tap Next to proceed.
- Check the box to acknowledge the statement and type in your full name. Tap Submit to electronically sign the document.
- You’re good to go! The Federal W-4 has been submitted and uploaded to View Saved Tax Forms in the employee portal. Tap Close to return to the app.
